About Us
ECW
The ECW is the Episcopal Church Women, a national organization.
Every woman is a member and always welcome at any activity.
ECW Meetings are held at various times as needed. Watch for announcements!
St. Christopher Thrift Shop
Established in 1958, our thrift shop sells good, clean used clothing and household goods to the League Citycommunity. Volunteers from St. Christopher and others staff the shop. Most of our income is designated as outreach (see grants). Other funds support the many ECW activities.
Women of St Christopher Grants
Twice a year the Grant Committee made up of the ECW Board, Thrift Shop volunteers and invited guests distribute the funds to local and international organizations that have submitted grant requests. We grant about $20,000 each year.
UTO - United Thank Offering
This outreach program of the National ECW was begun over 100 years ago. Small offering given in thanks of daily blessing are placed in your UTO box over a period of months. Ingatheringsare held twice a year.
Retreat
One weekend each spring women from St Christopher, friends, family and extended friends and family have a weekend of spiritual renewal, music, fun and food at CampAllen. We sleep in air-conditioned comfort. No one is called Mom by anyone under the age of 18. Our retreat for 2009 is scheduled for April 17-19 with The Reverend Sue Scott, Rector of Holy Trinity, Dickinson.
Christmas Tea
An annual event held in the home of a member. The ladies gather to relax, refresh, share, and renew friendships.
Hospitality
The ECW is often called upon to hostess special events at the church. This usually means bringing food, setting up, and serving refreshments.
Beth Moore
We have offered several Beth Moore Bible studies. These groups meet for many weeks and are designed for woman as faith enrichment and life changers. See Women’s Studies.
Diocesan ECW Annual Meeting
Held in a different location each year. Our board and several other members attend this overnight event. The 2008 Annual Meeting will be at Camp Allen on November 14-15.
